RUSA is pleased to offer medal awards designed to encourage participation in domestic brevets put on by our hard working Regional Brevet Administrators (RBAs).
The awards are for any RUSA member in good standing who compiles 1000 km, 2000 km, 3000 km, 4000 km, or 5000 km of RUSA events in one calendar year.
Here are the rules for the awards:
- The award recognizes participation in RUSA domestic events, including RUSA events that are sanctioned by the ACP or Randonneurs Mondiaux (RM). Only Brevets, Populaires, Fleches, Arrows, Darts, and RM events on the RUSA calendar count toward the award. Events sponsored by randonneuring organizations in other countries do not count toward the award.
- An event"s credit toward the award is based on its distance. Credit for Brevets, Populaires, Permanents, and 1200km and longer randonnées is based on the advertised distance. (For example, an ACP-sanctioned 300km brevet counts for 300 km, even if the cue sheet or actual distance is longer. Credit for a non-ACP-sanctioned RUSA brevet advertised as 555km is 555km, even if the cue sheet or actual distance is longer.)
- Credit for a Fleche or Arrow is 360 km.
- Credit for a Dart is 180 km.
- A rider can only count each Permanent route once in a year towards any award.
- Riders must complete the events between January 1 and December 31.
- Recipients must be RUSA members.
- Riders may apply for more than one award, but may not count the same event towards more than one award.
- Applications for the award are due no later than January 15 in the year following the year in which the medal is earned.
The custom-designed medals will cost $7 each, and be awarded at the end of the year. For the rider who is not interested in the longer brevets, this is a great way to see different regions of the US. You could earn medals by traveling to various regions and doing 200 km rides. What a wonderful way to see the country, meet other randonneurs, and support our RBAs.
These are domestic medals and may be ordered in addition to the traditional French brevet medals.
